Creating my own personal Art Classes

Heya guys!

So today's blog post is related to what I briefly talked about on today's LIVE! Scribbles with Jonathan show (which can be found here).  The idea of always getting better, and to continue learning.  Some people may not have a problem doing this, but I wanted to try and FOCUS on specific topics that I want to learn more about.

So here is what I have come up with.  I have chosen 5 topics that I want to get better at currently.  These topics can always change, but I'm going to stick with them for about a month.  After which, I will change a few topics if I need to.  I encourage you all to try the same!

The 5 topics that I chose were:
1) Basic Anatomy
2) Perspective
3) Anything & Everything
4) Art History
5) Master Studies

Now to go in depth about each a little more.

Basic Anatomy
This one is pretty self explanatory.  I feel like we all need to brush up on how we draw, and especially anatomy.  Something I think we all will be trying to get better at, for our entire lives.

Perspective
I feel like I have a good grasp on drawing cities and all that good stuff.  But like with everything in art, we can ALWAYS be better.  Doing actual perspective studies, and proper calculations will go far.  Especially when solving problems of how to turn our answers into practical solutions.

Anything & Everything
This is basically what I'll be working on for the rest of the week.  If I know the script I'm working on involves a car chase scene, with good guys and bad guys exchanging gun fire, I should draw guns and cars!

Art History
When I was in High School and College, I could care less about Art History.  But the older I get, the more appreciation I get from learning from the ones who paved the way to where we are.  The amount of gold nuggets found in the past, can only prove to be rewarding!

Master Studies
Now this should be different for a lot of people.  Some of us focus on painting, some comic books, some concept art.  Doing Michelangelo studies from High School and College is what I'm talking about here.  Save for the artist we are studying is different.  Opening a Spawn comic to redraw pages that Greg Capullo has penciled is something I'm looking forward to doing!

And this is pretty much it!

How I will structure this is simple.  I will spend an hour in the a.m. and an hour in the p.m. to study the topic of today's class.  Some of you may not have time to put towards this, or perhaps only an hour a day.  Fantastic!  Think of the amounts of knowledge you will learn, and how much better your art is going to get!

Some of you will have different topics to study, and maybe less topics as well, but you will have topics none the less!  Here is a small picture of what I have planned for myself.  After the fifth topic is done on any given day, I repeat the topics again.  I hope this makes sense.

So, I hope some of you try this out, and I will be posting updates as I go!  Today it looks like I'm drawing...Anything! :)
